Ishikawa prefecture

Ishikawa prefecture (which includes Kanazawa, Kaga and the Noto peninsula) is situated on the Sea of Japan coast, between Tokyo and Kyoto. Taking the bullet train from Tokyo, you can reach Ishikawa in around 2.5 hours.
During the Edo period (1603-1867), the prefecture was part of the wealthiest domain in Japan and its rulers enjoyed massive power and influence from their home at Kanazawa Castle. They invested heavily in the arts and made Kanazawa a cultural hub. Crafts, cuisine, and entertainment flourished, and their impact is still felt in Ishikawa today.

Kenrokuen-Garden

Kenrokuen-Garden is an expansive Japanese-style strolling garden. Its blend of diverse gardenelements has made it one of the most famous gardens in Japan.The garden’s appearance changes dramatically with the seasons. In spring, cherry blossomsform a pastel canopy over the walking path starting from the entrance facing Kanazawa Castle.In summer, carpets of green moss flourish in the woods below the pavilion on Yamazaki Hill.In autumn, the Japanese maples and zelkovas in the southeastern part of the garden burst intogold, crimson, and russet colors. In winter, gardeners tie up trees with bamboo and ropesupports called yukizuri to help them weather the region’s heavy snowfall and maintain theirpainstakingly cultivated shape.
